OpenStudy (amistre64):

factor out the left side (x)(x+10) = 18 ^ even this out between the 2 (x+5)(x+5) = 18 ; since n*n=n^2 rewrite (x+5)^2 = 18 ; undo the square with a sqrt x+5 = +- sqrt(18) ; and get rid of the +5 x = -5 +- sqrt(18)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i think i forgot a smidge in that; we need to account for the 5^2 that we introduce on the left; so add it to the right

OpenStudy (amistre64):

(x+5)(x+5) = 18 + 25 (x+5)^2 = 43 x = -5 +- sqrt(43) thats better
