y=√(x^2+25^2)
You get a half circle that's the top half of x^2+y^2=25^2 which is a circle centered at the origin with a radius of 25.
Wait what? It just says to solve so I don't know what that means.
You can't solve an equation with two variables. That makes no sense at all. Are they asking you to solve for x?
I'll copy the exact question:
A tether is being attached to a 25-foot pole in such a way that x+y=50. By the Pythagorean theorem, the distance y=√(x^2+25^2). What must x be? Sorry if the x+y=50 affects the problem, I thought it was irrelevant.
Of course it effects the problem, lemme solve it now 0.o
unfornuately, I can't do the problem without a basic picture, because I have no idea what x and y are.
