first, what numbers multiply to -8 ? 1 and 8, 2 and 4. now, put them into this below and see which multiplies out to your original equation: (5x )(x ) Eventually, you can get -4 and +2. (5x - 4)(x + 2) = \(5x^2 - 4x + 10x -8\) which simplifies to your original equation. don't forget to change to your variable "d" .... Sorry, I think in x. :)
