Can you get chickengunya if you come into contact with a patient who has it? You can only get it if the friggin' mosquito bites you right? My dad's down with it, and my parents think I should go nowhere near him so as to prevent me from catching it. In fact, he thinks I should wear a mask. 0.0

Chickengunya is not transmitted between humans, it needs a vector a special type of tick or mosquito inorder to transmit.

In other words, you're perfectly safe unless you've a hungry mosquito in the room in the room with the both of you.

Well staying anywhere in the same house could be dangerous because if the same mosquito who bites your dad even strikes its needle at your skin you will get sick

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since it's a mosquito-borne disease, the best thing you can do is spray both yourself and your dad with insect repellent and use mosquito nets to keep them out of the house/away from the beds. That should reduce the odds of it being transmitted.
