What is electromotive force(e.m.f)? Explain briefly please.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

emf is just the voltage or the potential different but it is using in some specific situation... eg. we say potential different across some resistance, we say voltage and emf of the battery.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

emf (acronym for electro-motive-force) initially was understood as the force provide by a "motor" (battery) to "pump" the electron to move around an electrical circuit

OpenStudy (mos1635):

is the voltage of a battery when no current paww threw her..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The voltage of an energy source is sometimes described by the term 'electromotive force' abbreviated emf, in the electrical literature.
