Explain, in complete sentences, how you would completely factor 3x3 + 27x2y – 24xy – 216y2 by using the grouping method. How would you check your factors for accuracy?

OpenStudy (callisto):

First group the terms with common factors 3x^3 + 27x^2y – 24xy – 216y^2 = 3x^2 (x+9y) - 24y(x+9y) Then, take out the common factor again = (3x^2-24) (x+9y) To check for the accuracy, expand the terms to see if you can get the same polynomial as that in the question

OpenStudy (callisto):

Sorry, it should be Then, take out the common factor again = (3x^2-24y) (x+9y)

Thanks <3 I didnt understand the accuracy part!

OpenStudy (callisto):

welcome
