So if you want to find dy/dx of sinx+cosy=1, you get cosx/siny = dy/dx. Why?

The part I dont understand is how to isolate dy/dx by the way

Wait! I figured they were both x. You have x and y, so you use partial derivatives or implicit differentiation.
