hero (hero):

Hint: Is distance positive or negative?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uhm pos.

hero (hero):

2nd Hint: Since know that absolute value equals "distance". and distance must positive, how can it possibly equal something negative?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont want hints...... Can you just give me the answer with steps? Hint's aren't helping me at all

hero (hero):

Well, actually, I'd be happy to give you steps....if that were possible. In this case, it is not possible. Since absolute value cannot be negative, algebraic steps have been rendered obsolete. Distance cannot be negative, which means no such x can satisfy the equation. By the way, Open Study is not a site where you can get answers anymore. It has evolved into something more helpful where we try to lead students to the answer, rather than just give the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well you aren't helping.

hero (hero):

You mean, I'm not posting the steps along with the answer like everyone else does for you. If that's what you're looking for, I'm sorry. I can't help you.
