Can someone let me know if I have this right? Find the following. ^18sqrt(-2)^18 does it come out to 9 or does it just stay -2 because I am thinking it goes to 9 but I could be extremely wrong?

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

Is the equation\[\Large \sqrt[18]{-2}^{18}?\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or I meant the answer comes out to 2 or 9. Yes, that is the correct form of the equation.

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

Then it would remain as \(-2\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or would it convert into a positive 2? That's what I want to make sure.

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

It would stay negative because the equation is equivalent to \[\Large (-2)^{18 \over 18} = (-2)^1=-2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhh okay, that makes sense! Thank you so much, I appreciate it!

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

You're welcome.
