the slope of a line is 8. If a line is to be drawn perpendicular what would the slope be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

slope would be -8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if it was parallel it would be -8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because it's opposite?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

perpendicular means it intersects

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if it was parrallel it would be the exact same slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

gradient of a perpendicular is -1/m where m is the gradient of the line. In this question m = 8 the perpendicular has a gradient od -1/8
