I.D. any extrema of the function by recognizing its given form or its forms after completing the square. Verify your results by using the partial derivatives to locate any critical points and test for relative extrema. g(x,y)=(x-1)^2+(y-3)^2

I've already solved the problem, but for the first part I'm confused on how you can predict the outcome the extrema without solving it. I know the first two a critical points are 1,and 3 but how did they determine 0 just by looking at it?

is it because by plugging in 1 and 3 the answer becomes 0 ?
