Is there a way to generate a prime in a fixed number of steps ......4 or 5? We have to find the divisor of a number before we can know whether it is a prime. Are there shorter methods?

OpenStudy (jamesj):

This question belongs in mathematics, but there are certainly ways to generate primes in a small number of steps. For example, the prime generating polynomials. You'll find a list of them here: http://mathworld.wolfram.com/Prime-GeneratingPolynomial.html

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Changing topics, yes. It is called General Relativity.
