Scavengers and decomposers are the primary recyclers of an ecosystem. Scavengers feed on dead animal carcasses the would otherwise take 5 years or longer to break down. Decomposers get rid of the parts left by the scavengers.
Without the decomposers there could be no life since plants would run out of nutrients.
