does the right side of the equation look like (2x)^2 or 2x^2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

20^2 = 2x^2

Ok, great, that means that your just squaring your x term instead of the 2 and the x. First you'll want to square the 20 to simplify the left side of the equation. Next you want to get rid of the 2 from the right side, so you'll divide both sides of the equation by 2. Your last step will be to take the square root of both sides to get x.
