How come every question I ask now is an open question? How can I get rid of this?
I want to get rid of this because now i have to Close the question every time to ask a new one.
I haven't experienced this change yet but if that is true it would be great. since in my opinion it reflects reality (people **do** have multiple questions at the same time.
yet how does this happen who put on my name that every question i ask is an open question
Sadly I seem unable to have more than one open question at any one time. Pity :-( In my case a question I have started will remain open until I close it. I don't fully understand what behavior you are experiencing. Can you ask another question before you close this one down?
its a means of curbing the abuse that people were commiting in posting all of their homework/test questions and use this site as a free answering service
if you post one question at a time, and work thru it with the community it fosters learning
just close it or delete it!
Amistre is right. We found that, when people would ask multiple questions at a time, they weren't really engaged with the answerers. By only having one question visible on the main feed at a time, it helps get them better help and also keeps them engaged. Closed questions are still allowed to be answered and everything else; They just don't clutter the main feed.
For some groups I agree with you but for others this does not hold true. For example I am following MIT 6.00 Intro Computer Science OCW. This is a free set of great videos. There is no grading whatsoever not start and not finish. Its a hop on hop off type course were there are no tutors or TAs to help and unless there are peers you'll never get assignments checked. At then end of the day you will not get a certificate or other sheet of paper. For this type of training having the facility to post multiple questions would be a plus.
I'm afraid that I don't understand how that use case benefits from multiple questions, chribonn. Perhaps I'm missing something? Is it not still more valuable to focus on one problem at a time and learn what you can?
