Right - to add on to what hereweg0 mentioned: labor was abundant due to a high population density and rocky soil (made farming difficult, so manufacturing was emphasized). Capital was provided through shipping; seaports also allowed for import of raw materials and export of goods. The rapid rivers provided a natural source of energy for the early textile mills and factories.
