factor the trinomial: x2 + 12x + 32 (x - 2)(x + 16) (x + 16)(x + 16) (x + 4)(x + 8) prime

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^2 + 12x + 32 (x + 8) (x + 4) x = -8, -4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the record you can't have -2 x 16 = -32 rather than +32 in which you need

abigail2010 , you provided a solution with no explanation.

Alright so, you find the factors of 32... which are 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, and 32. Since the whole equation is addition the 2 factors you choose must be positive especially cuz the 12x is also positive thus it eliminates the possibility of having negative factors. So you find the 2 factors and reduce once you get that you set it = 0 and solve for both x's. Hope this helps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It really doesn't.

hero (hero):

That's because the explanation isn't as precise as it could be.
