Use the quadratic formula to find the roots of the equation. 2x2 - 28x + 98 = 0 A.{-7, 7} B.{7} C.{-2, 49} D.no real number solution

OpenStudy (eyust707):

okay so the "roots" are the x's that you can plug in to make the left side equal 0

OpenStudy (eyust707):

you have learned roots when there was no number in from of x^2.

OpenStudy (eyust707):

front* but thats okay cause we can get rid of it using a lil trick

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

for a quadratic ax^2 + bx + c = 0 the general quadratic formula is \[x = (-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac})/(2a)\] in your question identify a, b, c and substitute

OpenStudy (eyust707):

the quadratic will also work, but this is my method: |dw:1333696904191:dw|
