If i have 2 copper wire, each end is connect to different terminal, and i put them in contact to left the circuit flow. Will the electric arch form when i separate them slowly? Higher voltage = longer electric arch length? Will there any potential and ampere drop after the arch?

OpenStudy (shayaan_mustafa):

sorry but some points in your question are unclear to me. what do you mean by slowly or instantly? and potential is droped across any terminal not ampere(current), it just flow.

OpenStudy (radar):

You will have to have enough potential to sustain an arc, The gap distance (distance between the wire ends) is critical. The arc will extinguish when the gap widens as the material is depleted.

ok get it
