One pipe can fill a tank in 20 minutes, while another takes 30 minutes to fill the same tank. How long would it take the two pipes together to fill the tank?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

the first pipe fills the tank in 20 minutes so in 1 minute it fills 1/20 of the tank and in x minutes it fills x/20 of the tank. Similarly the second pipe fills x/30 of the tank in x minutes. Together they fill 1 entire tank so: \[\frac{x}{20}+\frac{x}{30}=1\]

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Can you solve that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, thanks again!
