Biology 8 Online

I don´t know anything about Biology and would like to change that. Can anyone suggest some website where I can read the basic stuff or even better watch some videos? I know on Khan Academy there is some stuff and I stumbled upon CrashCourse Biology on YouTube (but CrashCourse is way to fast). So can anyone suggest some videos or a website where they basically start at zero?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you mean by "zero"? If you want to kind of ease yourself into the subject, you could always try nature documentaries...

http://academicearth.org/subjects/biology This is by no means from 0, but in conjunction with Khan Academy it might be a help

Or http://www.youtube.com/user/UCBerkeley/videos?query=biology http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/biology/biocon.html Or you could use stumbleupon and find biology-related things on there, like: http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/48yce1/:1uq3O7K43:LYft @T3a/www.biology.arizona.edu/site.html/ http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/2enfms/:IMRFc6-j:LYft @T3a/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathematical_biology/ http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/1pyDkm/:1hWTfNfei:LYft @T3a/io9.com/5848291/10-awesome-online-classes-you-can-take-for-free/ http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=F2E17B4CDCCE15F5 Stumbleupon is surprisingly good for academic-related things.

Although it is not "from zero," MIT OCW has two excellent series of lecture videos on introductory biology. The class names are the same but only some of the material is redundant: 7.012 focuses on molecular biology; 7.014 has some on molecular biology, but more on ecology as well: http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/biology/7-014-introductory-biology-spring-2005/ I'd say the lectures start from 1 or 1.5 on a scale of 1 to 10.

k, thanks I´ll check that links out. Should be enough stuff to read/watch. ;) When I wrote "start by zero" I meant that there is no need for anything you already should know about Biology. In Germany you can go trough life without ever being in a biology-class.

Ah, ein Deutscher! In that case, some of the sites I have bookmarked might be useful for a change. There are some basic university-level biology lecture videos here, and these ones are auf Deutsch: http://timms.uni-tuebingen.de/Themen/Themen.aspx I'd suggest trying one of them, maybe botany, and just to see how much you understand. I've used this site too to find videos in both English and German: http://www.online-vorlesungen.de/Videos/Biologie/index.htm Again, it's university-level material, but most Bachelor students spend the first few semesters learning a more in-depth version of roughly the same stuff they learned in school, so don't let that put you off. And... if you want general information about German wildlife and conservation (an important topic in biology!), I'd also suggest looking at the NABU website ( http://www.nabu.de).

;) Danke - now I got some collection to pick the stuff that looks delicious.
