Write equation for circle satisfying given conditions. radius 25, center (h,k). Please check my answer!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x-h)^2 + (y-k) ^2 = 625

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

You have the correct answer. Great job.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Sure thing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know how to find the radius for this one.. center (2,5) containing (13,5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it just says containing and not the radius.. so i'm not sure

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Find the distance between the two points. Do you know how to do this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

don't you have to subtract them? I forgot which ones go first..

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

The distance from the center to that point will be equal to the radius

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Close, you subtract them, and then use them in a right triangle to find the length of the hypotenuse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok would it look like this...|dw:1333836918907:dw| not certain if I did that right... I haven't done this in a while, so I'm a little rusty.
