If an object is dropped from a height of 144 feet, the function h(t)=-16t^2+144 gives the height of the object after t seconds. When will the object hit the ground?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. 9 s B. 6 s C. 1.5 s D. 3 s

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we simply need to solve for t when h(t) is zero. this is sort of like a x intercept of sorts... t=3 is the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if we called in y=-16x^2 +144 then say "find x intercept" this is same thing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so D?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

indeed D
