OpenStudy (anonymous):

what does the endoplasmic reticulum do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in the "rough" ER - proteins are translated . teh rough ER is named so due to the density of ribosomes that gives it a "rough look" in electron microscopy. the smooth ER, which is ribosome sparse deals with membranes synthesis and vesicles trafficking

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It basically stores proteins and transports them to the cell membrane, but here There are two endoplasmic reticulums. There is Smooth E.R. and Rough E.R. The Smooth E.R. functions to drug detoxify, lipid synthesis, and manafacturing of membranes and products.. The Rough E.R. functions to transport many small objects to the Golgi apparatus which dissolves it or transports it out of the cell.
