evaluate 9 log3^4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[9 \log_{3} 4\]

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

Use the change of base formulae as shown here: http://www.purplemath.com/modules/logrules5.htm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\LARGE 9\cdot \log_34=9\cdot \log_33+9\cdot \log_31\] \[\LARGE 9\cdot1+9\cdot 0=9\] I'm not 100% sure, if someone could verify it .. :(

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

Kreshnik - log(a) + log(b) = log(ab) - so your solution is not correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Auff... 3*1 is not 4 pfff... I see it !

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

:) - it's good to make mistakes - that's how we all learn

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

gf: you can use the change of base formulae to convert the log to base 3 into a log to base 10 and then just use a calculator to work out the result.
