Shouldnt we be able to send messages to our fans - rite now we can only do so to who we are a fan of

You can set it so only people you are a fan of can send you a message. If they don't have that setting on, you can send a message to anyone. All you have to do is type their name in the To field.

But, we consider you becoming a fan of someone an indication that you want to know more about them. That's why we show you online status and such for those people.
