evaluate 12/3x+y for x=7 and y=4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subs. x=7 and y=4 ,and solve it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do I do with the 3 and 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

put 7 instead of x ,and put 4 instead of y,and then calculate the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12/3x7+4 12/21+4 12/25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

be careful with your order of operations. The way the problem is written is important. Is your problem 12/3 times x, or is it 12 divided by 3x? Also, where does the y belong - in the denominator or next to the fraction?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12 over 3x+y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when you write that out it's best to enclose in parentheses.
