How can the light from a laser pointer be best described?

I would say ray because:
a point is simply a point in space; the laser at least travels.
a line means that it goes to infinity in BOTH directions which is not true
a line segment means that it ends at two points, which, in theory, does not happen if there is nothing to stop the laser. :)
