Solve the system of equations using substitution. y = 3x + 2 y = 2x + 6

OpenStudy (eyust707):

okay so substitution is when we find out what a varibale is equal to using one equation, and then plug it into the other equation

OpenStudy (eyust707):

so if y = "2x + 6" that means I can take "2x +6" and exchange it for y in the top equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\LARGE a=b\quad and \quad a=c\quad \Longrightarrow b=c\]

OpenStudy (eyust707):

once you do that what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If y = 3x + 2 and y = 2x + 6, then you can just set them equal to each other and solve 3x+2=2x+6
