"My dolly gave me a big hug" is an example of : (a)simile (b) metaphor (c) personification

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Similes are comparisons using "like" or "as"; since neither are present, the sentence is not a simile. Metaphors are comparisons without using "like" or "as"; they also are literary devices in which you experience something in terms of another. Personification is the attribution of human characteristics to a non-human entity. Based off of these definitions, which do YOU think it is? :)

(c) personification

That my fine sir, is personification! Personification: The attribution of a personal nature or human characteristics to something nonhuman. (Google)

@bobbylynn and @vinnyra I believe the purpose of Open Study is help the asker arrive to the answer, not answer it for them. Let them do some thinking and understanding too!

@shay88 True, sometimes though when one knows the answer, it's hard to not just blurt it out! At least I gave a definition ;) Thanks for reminding me, or else people will just cheat.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@vinnyra Yeah I'm glad you gave her/ him the definition as well. And no problem :)
