okay, pretend her bill is 40.00. then a trick for % is that 10% is just the amount when you move the decimal over one space. so in this case 10% would be 4$. now we need to calculate 15%!!! so we already hav 10% now to get another 5%, well thats half of the amount of 10%. since 10% gives us 4$ 5% will give us 2$. so we add those up(4$+$2=6) and we have a total tip of 15% of 6 dollars.
