Absolute value translates what ever the value is within the absolute value signs to a positive number. This equation can be either x=5 or x =-2. If it is -2, then 2(-2)=-4 and -4-3=-7 That is a negative and absolute value signs change it to a positive, so x can equal -2 or 5
