Can you help here please? determine the exact value of 1/cot θ.
|dw:1334010062956:dw|
because tangent is negative in the 4th quadrant....
cos(theta) = 2/3 with theta in quadrant 4. 1/cot(theta) = tan(theta) = -sqrt5/2
wait, sorry Im being slow, Im just trying to process the information:)
Can you explain the question for me? I dont really understand it
np... that's how you get good at these... process it...
shoot.
they give you a value for cosine of theta which is the ratio 2/3. they also give you that theta is an angle in the 4th quadrant. the question is to find 1/cot(theta)... the exact value....
so the part tht confused me was and 270 < theta 360
this means that it is in 4th quadrant?
yes...
Ohhh. If they asked 2nd or 1st quadrant, how would they ask it?
well they definitely can't say that theta is in the second quadrant because the ratio they gave is positive 2/3. cosine in the second quadrant is negative. but they could say theta is in the first quadrant by stating 0<theta<90 degrees.
Ohhh, so If i draw this in the unit circle, Id get: |dw:1334010630149:dw|
right?
yes
so are the points placed here correctly?|dw:1334010678242:dw|
