A publisher had a tiltle reduction and lost 1/11 of its titles. If 220 of its titles were left after the reduction, how many titles were there orriginally?

OpenStudy (radar):

Let x = the number of original titles. then x/11 is the number of titles lost in reduction. Then we would have this equation: x - x/11 =220 Solve by multiplying through by 11 getting 11x - x =2420 10x = 2420 x = 242 that is the original number of titles.
