The value of a car is inversely proportional it its age. If a car is worth $6400 when it is 6 years old, how old will it be when it is worth $4800?

hero (hero):

Wow @paulzord , where have you been?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6a=6400 xa=4800 then hero beats me

hero (hero):

I didn't beat you :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

on some holidays, avoiding maths etc

hero (hero):

avoiding math would devoid existence from being aware of itself. In other words, it's impossible to avoid math.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

evading then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yeah, thanks

hero (hero):

actually, I'm missing a variable: \[b = \frac{k}{a}\] where a = years of car b = price of car

hero (hero):

So now, solve for k, then input the components to find k: \[ab = k\]\[(6400)(6) = k\]

hero (hero):

38400 = k

hero (hero):

So if b = 4800, then a = \[a = \frac{38400}{4800} = 8\] Therefore, the car will be 8 years old if its price is $4800

hero (hero):

btw, what does spriteness mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's just some random nonsense i made up

hero (hero):

Shucks, I was hoping I could add a word to the Urban Dictionary.
