What is modern Analysis. and what is prerequisite for this. and for what i should do this ? please do help me.
please someone help me..
kingGeorge thanks that u r replying. waiting for long time for someone to give response .. :)
I'm assuming we're walking about mathematical analysis like the kind described here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathematical_analysis This is really a more comprehensive approach to calculus. You learn what limits really are, and how to use them in formal mathematical proofs. Depending on the class, you'll probably talk about sequences, and possible touch on derivatives. As for prerequisites, lots of calculus is good, and you definitely want to have had some math class that introduced formal proofs.
KingGeorge are you there?
yes...
KingGeorge can u suggest me which courses should i have before doing this course. actaully now i am doing Calculus I . Can i START Modern Analysis along with Calculus I ?
At my school, The only prerequisite is discrete math. Discrete math has a prerequisite of calc 1. I would imagine other schools have a similar structure. While analysis doesn't really require knowledge from calc 1, they want to see some experience with the terms. Personally, I would suggest taking calc 1 before taking analysis rather than taking them concurrently.
ohhh.. thanks alot KingGeorge u helped me a lot :) thanks from heart :)
You're welcome.
Personally, I would suggest taking calc 1 before taking analysis rather than taking them concurrently. I agree. Analysis can be quite technical in approach. Alot of smbols are used and is somewhat abstract.
