in an arithmetic sequence the terms increase or decrease by the same value called the common difference its easiest to change fractions to improper type 1 3/5 = 8/5 1 1/5 = 6/5 we can write 2 as 10 /5 the common difference = 6 / 5 - 8/5 = (6 - 8) / 5 = -2/5 the 25th term is a + (25 -1)d a = first term 2 and d = common difference -2/5 25th term = 2 + 24 * -2/5 = 10/5 - 48/5 = -38 /5 or -7 3/5

to change mixed fraction to improper fraction for example 2 3/4 = (2*4 + 3) / 4 = 11 / 4 to change improper to mixed: 11 / 4 : 11 / 4 = 2 remainder 3, so its 2 3/4
