I'm going to go with "bloody tales" because it was often used to describe stories that were macabre, murderous, or otherwise scary. Hope this helps!

Although we typically associate gothicism with horror stories, like Edgar Allan Poe's work, the term comes from the civilization called the Goths in northern Europe. In literature, the term "gothic" was first applied to medieval Romanticism. Only later was it applied to the horror genre. I'd say "love stories" is the closest answer.
