Question

i want to learn the name of a substance: dogs can have the smell of this substance, and somethimes if i dig in soil under pavewalk or under grass, i can smell the same substance. It makes me think of silex, or flintstone.

Petrichor? Probably not it, but that's the only funky smell I know of.
