What is the value of f[g(3)] for the functions f(x) = x + 3 and g(x) = 2x + 1?

myininaya (myininaya):

Can you find \[g(3)\]?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont know how to do this,so i wouldnt no

myininaya (myininaya):

To find g(3) you look at g(x)=2x+1 and where there is x you replace the x with 3 and evaluate so try replacing the x in g with 3 and apply the order of operations

myininaya (myininaya):

Let me know what you get when you do this and I will be happy to check

OpenStudy (anonymous):

g= 7

myininaya (myininaya):

yes g(3)=7

myininaya (myininaya):

great! :)

myininaya (myininaya):

ok by we wanted to find f(g(3))

myininaya (myininaya):

But we just found g(3)=7 so we have f(7)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so then we do 7 +3?

myininaya (myininaya):

yes that is totally correct! Great job! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so then the answer would be 10?

myininaya (myininaya):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you!

myininaya (myininaya):

You did a great job. Have fun!
