In this case, we're talking about seed plants - the key thing to remember here, is that the gametophyte stage is miniscule! Likewise, the structure that gives rise to the gametophyte (the spore) is NOT released. So you can eliminate choices three and four. Now, given what you know about the dependence of the gametophyte on the sporophyte, which choice is the most logical? I'd go with two - the gametophyte develops right from the sporophyte, and helps house the gametes.
