what are your future goals when you graduate
to take up a job!!!!!
from college or high school u did not specify from college : - find a quality job, find a place to live, car
Ah, goals. Here are my thoughts on goals. (Wait, let me get on my soapbox real quick!) A goal is a dream with a deadline. In order to accomplish a goal you have to have a plan and a timeline. That's why most people never accomplish their goals. They are waiting for it to happen to them instead of making it happen for themselves. A generic goal of "find a good job" will go nowhere without action steps. My advice? First, define what a "good job" looks like for you, because it doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks - it's your goal, not theirs. What would make YOU happy? Is it based on salary, benefits, flexibility, sense of personal reward? Then, what are you going to do to make it happen? How will you prepare so that you are qualified when the "good job" comes along? What professional development opportunities will you pursue? How much time should it take you to build the skills you think you'll need? Next, PLOT OUT YOUR ACTION STEPS on a calendar. I have a "good job" but I'm also a graduate student and want to prepare for my next level of advancement. So, every week I have things I do to keep me ahead of the curve. I participate in free online webinars to keep up on relevant topics, join in volunteer activities to make networking connections, take advantage of free computer training courses whenever I can, and even follow people on Twitter who are involved in my subject area. Every week I'm more prepared than I was the week before, one step closer to my goal. Baby steps. That's how I finally found myself right where I imagined when I started this journey years ago as a high school dropout. I'm now interviewing for jobs in my field and finding that I'm way more informed than classmates who just did what they had to do to get by. It feels great. Good luck to those of you who are pursuing your goals!
