There's another branch of ecology called synecology, which is the study of different species living in the same environment, and their relations with one another.

By the way you worded your question, I'm not 100% sure it's synecology, but it might be.

I'm not so sure about what you said about synecology. Its not really the interactions between the community and the environment, but rather the different species in the community, or multiply communities.
