Find two numbers with a sum of 20 and a difference of 14

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

write out the statements as algebraic equations and then solve. e.g.: a + b = 20 a - b = 14 Another way would be to use trial-and-error where you start by "guessing" a solution - e.g. 0 and 14 have a difference of 14 but do not add up to 20, so then try: 1 and 15, then 2 and 16 etc, etc

thankyou

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

yw

2 and 16 is not the answer, I was just giving examples of how you could use trial-and-error.
