If P has co-ordinate (x,y) then M wil always have co-ordinate (x/2, y/2)
so it's locus should be easy once you know (a)

I was guessing it's something like a circle. Was I right?

yes
(a) indicates P has a locus of a circle - say radius r and at center (xp, yp)
then (b) would also be a circle but with radius r/2 and center at (xp/2, yp/2)
