OpenStudy (callisto):

Another locus question A (-3.4) is a fixed point and P is a moving point such that AP=5 (a) Find the equation of P (b) If M is the mid-point of OP, where O is the origin, find the locus of M

OpenStudy (callisto):

(a) is not the problem I just want to know how to find (b).. Sorry :(

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

If P has co-ordinate (x,y) then M wil always have co-ordinate (x/2, y/2) so it's locus should be easy once you know (a)

OpenStudy (callisto):

I was guessing it's something like a circle. Was I right?

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

yes (a) indicates P has a locus of a circle - say radius r and at center (xp, yp) then (b) would also be a circle but with radius r/2 and center at (xp/2, yp/2)

OpenStudy (callisto):

Good. Problem solved. Thanks again asnaseer :)

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

yw

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@asnaseer on a roll!!

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

hehe - just my lucky day I guess FFM :D
