after one cell has been infected by a virus, for example a bacteriophage, two things can happen. either the genome of the virus replicactes or generates more copies but without expressing these genes or the viric genes will express instead of the normal genes of the cell, thus leading to the lysis or destruction of the host cell. this implies the liberation of copies of the virus for following infections. hope it helps, tell me
