Hi. Requesting help with an APA citation. - cited item is an editted book - - but the chapter I'm citing is w/ THE SAME person that editted book. Is it written as a (regular) book -or- an (ed) chapter book -or- something else ? I also have an addditional entry (same book & (ed) as above) w/ a different chapter/author. I'm good on my in-text citations. Just unsure how to do a correct Reference List entry. Thanks.

Imalinquist - Here are two good sources for APA that might help - check out the Editors section on the Dixie State site. Hope this helps http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/06/ http://libguides.dixie.edu/content.php?pid=5025&sid=604117

You treat it as an edited book. Plath, S. (2000). The unabridged journals. K. V. Kukil, (Ed.). New York, NY: Anchor. The author of the article goes first. Then later in the citation you list the author as the editor. It seems redundant, but you treat it as if the author and the editor are separate people.

I live by & with Purdue Owl, but still could not make a determination. After I looked at Atam's 'Dixie' link, I thought, "IF I had to do this on my own, I would treat it as an Ed book." So, Jenyoung, Thank you for not only the confirmation, but also writing it out ! ! Many sincere thanks to both that replied. Cheers.

Looks like you already have the answer, but for further citations, bibme.org is great! It creates it for you so you don't have to memorize the format :)

Thanks, Wombat ! I was acutally questioning the previous response. I think it may be: Author, A. A., & Author, B. B. (Year of publication). Title of chapter. In A. Editor & B. Editor (Eds.), Title of book (pages of chapter). Location: Publisher. . .. . because it is a chapter, edited book, with various authors. The chapter I need to cite is written by the editor. The format would be different than the one above under these circumstances if I needed to cite an intro or preface by the editor - I do know that for sure. Can anyone verify ? Thnx.
