What is the slope of a line parallel to 4x + y = -1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the slope is -4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve for y (get the variable y on one side of the equal sign). the number in front of x (called the coefficient of x) is your slope.

OpenStudy (kymber):

Parallel lines have the exact same slope as each other. First what you want to do is put the equation into y = mx + b form (slope intercept) Then put whatever slope you get as the answer! :D
