Multiplying cells at a constant rate asexualy
In terms of size - they're tiny. Roughly a third of a blood cell...and blood cells are small! Shapes are varied - you'll see spheres (cocci), rods (bacilli), spirals and commas and etc. which can be used to further classify the bacteria. If you can get a look inside, you'll find that there's only a nucleus and ribosomes - no other organelles are present - such traits are the hallmarks of prokaryotes. Stains can be used - you've likely heard of the gram stain, which differentiates between two main groups of bacteria based upon their cell walls.
