why is earth rotating ?
maybe because while it was forming metroids hit it and terfore gave it a constant angular momemtum...
i dont think so bcoz all the planets rotates and revolve!
same reason applies on all......
k,,,,, but then why all planets rotates from east to west except Venus which rotates from west to east!
welllll.........i think on venus metroids hit in such a way that they gave it an angular momemtum in that particular direction.....................see i m not sure please confirm it..
Maybe due mto gravitational force of attraction between sun and earth
Planets weren't solid as we know them now, actually Earth. There are still several planets which are in gaseous state. I think it has something to do with initial form or the gaseous form.
You should google this question.
you think like me! i asked the same question here....... http://openstudy.com/users/salini#/updates/4f71bc5be4b07738f5adebd2
The Earth formed as part of the birth of the Solar System: what eventually became the solar system initially existed as a large, rotating cloud of dust, rocks, and gas. It was composed of hydrogen and helium produced in the Big Bang, as well as heavier elements ejected by supernovas. As this interstellar dust is inhomogeneous, any asymmetry during gravitational accretion results in the angular momentum of the eventual planet. The current rotation period of the Earth is the result of this initial rotation and other factors, including tidal friction and the hypothetical impact of Theia.
in terms of physics it is understood in this way.... when earth was formed in the big bang theorey it had acquierd some ang.velocity omega and hence momentum there is NO external torque in space and hence the earth continues to rotate with same momentum(conservation of momentum obeyed) it can also be noted taht earth is getting bigger and bigger so its ang.velocity might change in the future meaning our days wud be longer like 26 hrs..this may take years time period=2*pi/omega
